I love Jasper Fforde. It was great the spend time with these characters again.
Another fun read that I couldn't put down! Even the smallish dash of love interests didn't detract from this great story. I can't wait to get the third book.
Good sequel. And didn't wear it out so I fan still enjoy a third installment later. Unique imagination. I just wish he would write his Grey series more.
Realistically, Ffordian should be a shelf in and of itself. There's no one quite like Jasper Fforde, which is nice (although rather annoying when you just want him to hurry up and write the sequel to something) and this series is no exception. Exactly as expected, with additional Moose.
The more I read of Jasper Fforde's writing, the more I love it. He is a master of building quirky worlds that are different yet familiar. The characters from the first book are back. New charcaters are also introduced. Overall, I like that we are getting to understand how magic works and what happened historically.
The Song of the Quarkbeast is more of a children's book than a YA book.
I'm usually OK with YA and Terry Pratchett's [b:Diggers|989030|Diggers (Bromeliad Trilogy, #2)|Terry Pratchett|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1180031033s/989030.jpg|62480] trilogy while written for children still managed to keep me entertained.
The main theme of lower class foundlings fighting upper class snobbery and corruption simply doesn't appeal to me. Perhaps because I'm not British.

Unfortunately, not as good as the first. Still side-splittingly hilarious, still full of zany characters (the names are HILARIOUS. My favourites in this book are the Once Magnificent Boo, Perkins Perkins - otherwise known as the Youthful Perkins, Full and Half Price, and King Snodd's children), and of course who can resist the Quarkbeast??? I'm going to be honest, though, the Sentient Moose was the star of the show. I nearly shed a tear.
adventurous
funny
lighthearted
I agree with those who say this is even better than the first in the series. It was so much fun! I love the quarkbeast. Now I need to read book three in the series: [b:The Eye of Zoltar|16043857|The Eye of Zoltar (The Chronicles of Kazam, #3)|Jasper Fforde|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1383675220s/16043857.jpg|21821231].
Continuing my New Year's tradition of reading a Jasper Fforde novel. This was fast and didn't have as many layers as a Fforde novel usually does it it was still fun and the end still made me gasp. I'm excited that there's a 4th book to this trilogy because I like this world.
