amazing. amazing. amazing!!!
this was a really great audiobook experience. giving an actual voice to the mc worked so well for this book and made me want to root for her even more. this was such a nuanced thriller, i never knew where it was going, and i feel like it pushed the envelope so much more than a lot of thrillers i’ve read in the past year. all of the different identities and jobs were so creative and fun to hear about, and i really enjoyed all of the flashbacks and felt they added a lot to the plot and character development. the ending was completely unexpected, and the grand reveal was nuanced yet actually easy to follow due to all of the work setting it up in the flashbacks and present day scenes. i think i’m in love. i hope there’s a sequel (i would die).
also i’m SO glad she and ryan ended up together. skdhjdisjwn

When the mysterious Mr. Smith asks Evie to do a job, she has to do it. But what is he up to on this particular job? And who is Mr. Smith?
I enjoyed this book quite a bit and didn't guess who Mr. Smith was. I thought it was one person, but thankfully the author went in another direction.
I do wish we had more of her friends and colleagues. I liked them more than Evie, to be honest. I liked the dual timeline as it kept me engaged with the book and interested in the storyline.
I did figure out what was going on with the death before it was revealed, though not why she did it, so that part was a bit predictable, along with predicting the final "twist".

Narrator Rating: 4.5 stars
The narrator did an excellent job with the book. With the tonal shifts for emotions and characters especially.

There's a reason this is Reese's book club selection, a NYT bestseller (that will be moving up the list) and why it will be adapted to the screen by Octavia Spencer and Orit Entertainment with a script by Krista Vernoff and Meghann Plunkett. It was amazing, and I would have finished in less than a day if I did not have to go to work.

If you love a suspenseful, action-packed heist thriller with unpredictable twists and turns and a MC you are rooting for the entire way, this is your next read. This was compulsively readable, entertaining and kept me guessing. The hype is real. You will not be able to put this down.

I can't wait to see who they cast in these roles, and watch this!
