I read this as an audiobook, and I liked the how that author paced the book. It was funny, suspenseful, clever, and truly realistic. I truly related to the MC and how things just sometimes don’t work out and struggle to get everything fixed (hers is a bit more extreme). pacing. Sometimes the MC was a little annoying and that’s one of my book irks, but overall the characters were likable and the plot wasn’t totally predictable.
I am excited to read the second book in the series to see how the story continues. This was a fun Mystery/crime/ romance/comedy/thriller/…truly a mix. It was just a fun read. Would definitely recommend!

I used to love reading mystery novels, but have fallen away from that lately. I'm so glad I picked this up on a whim though! I love the twist on a typical murder mystery and I'm excited to dive into the next one.

Ooooh, this was such a refreshing read! I highly enjoyed this - and I had NO clue where the story was going to go along the way. Sure, Finlay & Vero are soooo lucky throughout the story, but somehow it just works? I liked their chemistry and the story itself was intriguing. AND THE ENDING! I did not see that coming at all. Definitely looking forward to reading book 2 when it comes out!

I might be obsessed with this book. Is it full of plot conveniences? Yes. Is it totally unbelievable in pretty much every aspect? You could say that. Did I have a wonderful time reading it? ABSOLUTELY. I do not remember the last time I've laughed so much!

Going into Finlay Donovan Is Killing It, I wasn't sure of what to expect. I mean, did it sound intriguing? Yes. Was I skeptical about how it would work? Totally. Thriller and humor aren't exactly genres that are inseparable, and a lot of the time, what has been promised is not delivered. But fret not, dear readers, as the book I've just put down sets a great example of how, despite being unusual, it is still very much possible for such a combination to exist.

If you enjoy watching trainwrecks unfold, you'll love reading about Finlay: a single writer without readers and with two children. As she's struggling with her recent divorce, finances, and children, an offer only plausible in books falls into her lap. It is just one of those things that shouldn't make sense, and as someone whose biggest pet peeve is plot conveniences, it should probably anger me. Still, it is so well executed that you can somehow believe that Finlay can find herself as a contract killer while just trying to explain her newest plot. Well, the good thing is you can laugh at and with her as her life takes a huge turn- for the better or, the worse? I am not sure.
Taking a look at our other characters, I could probably fill an entire page about my adoration of Vero, but I will stop myself. I will be content with saying her banter is peak comedy, and her attitude fills my soul with great satisfaction. Others, well, they are there, and they are okay, I guess. Honestly, the book would have been as great as it is without any of the "hotshots" or "underwear models," the ex-husband is just the epitome of hypocrisy, but, again, it really doesn't matter.

I will be waiting with my whole heart for a sequel. And when you are done with this book, you probably will too. So stop waiting, pick it up and enjoy your time glued to a book that knows not to take itself so seriously.
