I really enjoyed rereading this. It was one of the first real chapter books I read as a kid so as an adult it bought back so many memories.

I can not finish this book. I've tried reading it for several months now and I kept putting it down and forgetting about it. There's barely any action, the descriptions of the scenery and the sea life are really long and boring, and I'm halfway through the book and still nothing makes sense. Why are they prisoners on a submarine and what are they doing to escape? I got really bored trying to read through the dense details of how fast the submarine is traveling, what the fish look like, etc. I like other books by Jules Verne a lot more.

I read this book in high school over twenty years ago. Today, I wanted to reread it. I had no time to sit still for reading. Instead, I chose to listen to the ebook. The mood of the novel was essentially the same for me. I enjoyed the detailed descriptions of the story. It made for a dramatically long, slow, drawn-out story, but it’s so worth feeling emerged in a book. It was an awesome read with predictable characters.
