interesting story. Auren annoys the absolute fuck out of me, so it only gets four stars. hopefully she gets less annoying as the series goes on.

Fuck Midas, I was missing the fantasy genre and wanted some entertainment, which is why I picked it up. I’m intrigued by this series and def will continue

Did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. The story is pretty fast paced. Easy to keep up with. This first book focused a lot on introducing characters and world building. I definitely do not like King Midas. He is for sure up there with Dain and Tamlin. Also Every time I read “my Precious” I envision that scene with Gollum in LOTR.

I definitely hadn’t expected her to have the same power as King Midas especially since I thought that power couldn’t be bestowed on anyone. But now thinking about it I wouldn’t be surprised if Midas was a fraud and that is why he keeps Auren locked up and constantly calling her “my precious” and “mine” because she is the one who can turn things into gold and he has been claiming he is gifted and using her power to his advantage. Even Queen Malina is like I kNoW yOuR sEcReTs—then again I’m probably completely off.

I could not put this book down and never knew what was going to happen next!
I'm really looking forward to reading more of this series.

However, I took off a star because it was labeled a romance. I thought there would be a strong bond or relationship, but that aspect wasn't really there.

I wouldn't recommend this book to many ppl because some of these scenes were extremely dark. Check the trigger warnings before reading.

This book had great character development as well as a good plot!

I’ll tell you the truth I do not see what the hype is about. I like the writing style. The story is OK, but I’ve read the whole first book and probably only the last three chapters has made me even somewhat interested. I don’t really know the Midas touch story so maybe that’s one of the reasons why I’m not as interested. I am trying the second book out right now immediately after finishing the first. When I tell you that I’m not interested that is me saying that I took days actually a week to finish this book. I can finish 400 pages in less than six hours so to say that it took me this long definitely tells you my interest level. I’m not sure how I feel about her being caged the whole time and yet walking the use of the royal harem never been able to talk to anybody or become friends with anyone because she’s literally a pet. I would say that Midas is a selfish piece of trash and there’s nothing about him. That makes me want to read more of the story. Hopefully the story gets a little bit better as we learn what happens to Auren.

I could not get into this book! Not only was the FMC an absolute pain to read about - her inner monologues had me rolling my eyes so far back I thought they’d get stuck that way. And seriously Stockholm syndrome of this magnitude?? You love him, I get it. He uses you to get what he wants and you still don’t get it!! And he was going to give you to another man and yet you carry on and still love him, but oh there are “cracks” now?? The whole “relationship” should have splintered!

And the way women are written about? The things men do to them! No thank you.

Apparently it gets better, but I can’t make myself sit through it to actually get to that part.

I don’t like reading books where I want to physically slap the characters for stupidity without reason ( you know to further the plot or something) and want to gouge my eyes out.
