A wild telling of life that I hardly remember learning about. Lots of words that we no longer use in polite society, but it was fun to learn how they built their houses, etc. Many parts were very enjoyable and interesting, but I would no longer would recommend to most people due to the verbiage used.

So, it's a classic. But it is also VERY racist. There are a few places where the protagonist, Laura, notices inequity and objects, but it is surrounded by a lot of pretty egregious racism. So, if you do read this with a child, be ready to stop and discuss/provide context/explain that good people can participate in horrible things. I would not leave a child to read this without commentary.

This is my first reread as an adult and I got to say this book wasn't as liked this read through.
It's amazing how many spelling mistakes are in this book.
There is racism which is I guess was prevalent during the time period, but is as distasteful as it always has and will be.
My Dad was reading it with me, and we had to stop reading to keep asking, "What about Carrie? Where is baby Carrie tho?" As she was so often forgotten that it became a joking concern to us.
