It's seems once she gets her foot out of one hole Angel ends up in another. This time it is a little more than a zombie killer and a lot more than she ever expected to handle. Not to mention her name is being dragged through the mud. Can she prove her worth or it is she stuck as a loser forever?

What I Thought:

I Loved this book!

I read the first book in the series My Life as a White Trash Zombie and learned how Angel Crawford came to terms with and learned hoe to be a zombie. She went through trials and tribulations, trying to stay under the radar and figure out just how to get brains and the effects of eating them.

In this book, Angel is still learning about her new life, she's got a boyfriend - no not the same junked up one from the beginning of the previous book. Angel is working to make her life better. She's loving her life at the morgue and getting to know those around her. Actually, she's pretty damn good at what she does!

Then it all goes to pot.

I love how much Angel grows in this book. We get to see more of her personality, really seeing how she becomes a better person and how she falls into her own as a zombie. Her personality is brilliant. She is a strong-willed and doesn't give up.

The twists and challenges Angel faced were great. I didn't see the twists coming. I thought I knew what was going to happen, but wasn't close. I also thought Angel was excellent at the challenges she faced, never giving in and often responding with a few curses.

The pace of the book was perfect. It always moved fast enough to keep you on the edge of your seat, but still gives you enough detail to to feel like you know each character.

Overall, I am highly impressed with this book. I am a lover of zombie books, and I find this series refreshing, as it's not your typical zombie read. It gives you a look at zombie life when zombies are good and the people can sometimes be the ones who are bad. It's got action, it's got romance (well, sort of) and it's got lots and lots of attitude. I loved every page and cannot wait to read White Trash Zombie Apocalypse.

Not a long review, but a short what I thought about it.

I was kind of worried about this book, while the first book still left a whole lot open for more books, I wasn't sure if it would be ok or if I would like it.

It turns out, I didn't need to worry, the book was just awesomeness.
Angel is once again, a really kick-ass zombie. Marcus... well I wish he would stop being so worried and always making decisions for Angel. Angel doesn't need a babysitter, she just wants a cute boyfriend who she can trust and who trusts her in return.

It was also a very exciting book, lots happened, we got mafia, new zombies, conspiracies, death and so much more! I flew through this book, it was really an amazing ride, and unlike the first > second book, I couldn't wait to read the third one.

I will be sure to read the rest of the books too, whenever they come out, and I really hope many will still be written.

This book has a lot of growth for Angel. In fact, I feel it overshadows the romance aspect, so I definitely approve of that. The plot/mystery was interesting, but the "who did what why" part was confusing; if the characters hadn't had a sit-down to explain everything, I wouldn't have gotten it.

I really liked the first one, My Life as a White Trash Zombie, and was excited to get started on the second book. And honestly, book two didn’t disappoint, it was just as much a story that hooked me and kept me waiting and listening to see what would happen next and just who was behind what things. I also continued rooting for Angel as her zombie life continued and she tried to figure out her way in this new reality.

I had a feeling I might not be a fan of her boyfriend’s uncle. And I was right about that! While some of what happened wasn’t completely his fault, it was easy to tell he looked down on her and didn’t think she was right for his nephew when they first met. It was so frustrating for Angel though when everyone was not believing her, when someone who was a zombie, I mean, already that’s out there, you’d think would have been a bit more open to some of the theories she was coming up with.

Of course I continued to adore Angel. Like the funny little words or names she used, like “meanie pants” or zombie rebel alliance, lol. And I was so proud of her for not wanting her new boyfriend to treat her the way he was, for sticking up for herself. I liked how her relationship with her dad unfolded, not all of a sudden perfect, but a work in progress. And then there was her parole officer. That whole part of the story with her needing to take her GED, etc., added a bit of extra to the story. I also like all the people who were standing up for her, friends she’d made in her new life as they just got to know her and that she was a likable person.

There was a bad guy who showed up that I don’t want to spoil it, but if you read my last review or read the last book, you’d know it was someone I expected wouldn’t show up again for another book or so. But the way that person came back and how it moved the story along was perfect in my opinion. And again the author did a great job with making it so there were people that you weren’t sure if they were friend or foe. There was also a moment, and any Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans probably took it like I did, a line, “Hello Mother.”

I look forward to seeing where this story goes next, because I know the events and villains in this story will be back and I can’t wait to see how the author weaves it into the next book and just what else Angel might be dealing with.

About: Where do I even start. Angel is bettering herself, and fixing her life up. Her boyfriend, in the meantime, is doing his best to entangle her into his family, and friend circle. This is how Angel gets to know his best friend and former classmate, if I remember right, who is doing her very best, and her very hardest to find a way to make brain substitute for zombies to feed on. And this is where the fun and weird, and less fun but still weird things begin. On her way to morgue with a body Angel gets stopped by a masked man who takes the body at gunpoint, and escapes with it. Later on it also turns out the damn body belonged to a formerly dead zombie. A man died twice, somehow regenerated his whole damn body, died again and got kidnapped! Angel got two questions about this though. One: if the guy was really that zombie, that same one, and really regrew his whole body, how the hell did he age while still being a zombie, which he definitely was judging by the lack of brain smell? And two: who and why the hell is doing this shit?!

Mine: Angel is the biggest reason I’m still keen on giving these books no less than four stars. She’s simple, she has a mouth on her, she knows when there’s no reason to take offence even if she could, but she has an opinion, a character, a backbone, and good understanding of what good people are. I really do like her now. This book gets props for detective line too. With every piece of the puzzle revealed and put to place – the game changed for the players. Enemies became friends, and friends became enemies. Yet, at the same time, not all Angel’s theories turned out to be true, so author very successfully kept pushing me off the road.

So, all in all, these are not bad books. I’ve simply read plenty like these. But that doesn’t seem like a reason to take points away, so for the time being I’m willing to give it a 4 out of 5 again. If you want an interesting but simple read, these might really work for you. It got the strong female lead, understanding of what’s a healthy and what’s a toxic relationship, and some fine adventures too.
