there’s just something about miscommunication done right that lifts my spirits.
you see, these two IDIOTS (capitalizing because they deserve it) have done the best out of this “trope”. grrr. the name trope’s been so overused i can’t even recall its original meaning anymore.
but i digress! because these TWO IDIOTS (capitalizing again. how fun!) have managed to outdo what’s been done before in a very subtle way. “dancing around saying” and “half-saying it” and “everyone’s clearly seeing it” and a little bit of animosity and passive aggressive half arguments will do the trick just fine.
seeing more about cooper and oliver in this lighting and the fuck buddies and the way they are both completely crazy for each other is exhilarating. they have such a delicate relationship surrounding their upbringing and their backgrounds as human and wolf, and how this relationship is even more complicated due to the whole fact that they are special agents that look into wolf crime. are you kidding?
the layers surrounding these two is enough to keep you invested, but the author does a marvelous job in revealing little by little with enough information to spark interest and still make you want to devour everything whole and in one bite. really made me want to wolf down these books in one sitting.

not much of a review, but when i say this book reads ao3 done perfectly right, i mean it. wolf instincts mashed with an actually good crime investigation and the whole detective story bit and characters’ personally compromised history with each other to overcomplicate as well as give us insight into our main couple’s own storyline?
yeap. that does it. 5 stars given easily. smut also did not hurt. AT ALL. you’d think that it was a bit much after laying down your heart in a couple of scenes but personally i am a fan of the “fucking” to “making love” slight shift that is quite frankly one of the greatest plot points, if you’ll ask me.
but you won’t. so read this book for GREAT entertainment and rest assured that this is a brilliant sequence to a brilliant performance in “a wolf at the door”. i love these TWO IDIOTS so much

There were times I was about to bash these two oblivious idiots heads together. But the character development made me forgive them. A great continuation of the series.

The plot was definitely more bland than that of the first book in the series and even though this book is larger than the first book the storyline went by really fast compared to it. The mystery was still intriguing however, I was a bit disappointed due to my high expectations from the first book.
