This book was sweet and very easy to love and enjoy. Their romance was so cute. The part where Katie lies almost made me DNR she literally KNOWS he has problems with the very thing she’s lying to him about and chooses not to tell the truth on some small thing - I get it she’s protecting Rue but also it just felt like an unnecessary addition to the plot that Rue was sick. It played no factor in the rest of the book.

Well I’m typically a huge fan of Kathrine Center, and fake dating but this one did not hit for me. Unfortunately, I just didn’t like the MMC Hutch. He made me cringe by being the self proclaimed “love hater”. I loved that Kathrine tried to include body positivity and insecurity that many women face while I feel it was not 100% a hit. The comedy in the com part of rom com made me laugh. I also think that there could be more of a plot other than Katie being upset about herself and then hutch instantly falling for her and trying to make her feel better about herself.

* I will re-read as I’ve been in a big book slump*

Thank you to Kathrine Center and the publishers/net galley for giving me the electronic arc of this book. All comments are my own thought and opinions.

I don't think I have anything good to say about this book.
*Probably some spoilers ahead but I you shouldn't read this book anyways*

It should have been a DNF, but I felt obligated to get through it for NetGalley purposes.
First and foremost, I find it incredibly irresponsible and tasteless that there were no trigger warnings given at the start. The way Katie's eating disorder is handled tries to make light of it and poke fun, but it is a heavy topic that deserves way more care.
Katie was a selfish, irritating, self-centered FMC. While a literal hurricane is happening, she is worried about if a man she just duped repeatedly was mad at her. I could not roll my eyes hard enough.
Cole and Hutch had a familiar sibling rivalry thing going, but they were both so one-dimensional, I found it hard to care. Cole's "drinking contest" idea with a man who was wholeheartedly sober - disgusting. Sobriety is not something that you turn off and on.
And what in God's name was the fake-dating plot with Cole????? That was so off the rails and insane. It made absolutely no sense within the story, served no purpose other than to stir up trouble, and was then just resolved with no one really caring?

Honestly, two stars feels generous for this. It deserves one star, but the other one is for me for even finishing this travesty of a book.
I'm disappointed because this is my first Katherine Center book. I wanted to love her, but I will definitely not be rushing to pick up anything else by her.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martens Press for an E-ARC of The Love Haters.
This was a cute rom com perfect for summer. Katie was very relatable with her struggles with her body image. After being assigned a film job to showcase Hutch (super hot and a hero of course) and the coast guard in Key West she meets Rue and her friends who slowly help Katie to love herself!
Definitely would recommend for a summer read!
