The interior art was terrible and there was incest for literally no reason (is there ever a reason?)

Honestly, I didn't enjoy this one. I thought the artwork was too lumpy and dark. The story itself is... well, it's a story. I feel like it's an over-done concept, and while it was trying to be feminist, it just came off a desperate stab at being progressive, rather than genuinely so. Overall, meh.

story could have been fleshed out more and wasn't a fan of the art (some of the characters looked VERY different with various facial expressions - not consistent; not sure if this was on purpose or not?); the artist did work on Sandman so I did like how he drew the settings/atmosphere (and the covers are awesome) and I did like the basic premise, but otherwise a meh for me

Plot holes a plenty and no real substance. Some of the spooky drawings are spectacular but overall I feel very underwhelmed by this story and would not recommend.

This one gets a ton of hate. Like, whoa. It’s really not that bad. I loved the setting. There are a couple effective surprises. Great atmosphere. Fast-paced. It’s pulpy goodness.

Is the fantasy element a bit muddled by the end? Yes, but it didn’t bother me. Is the character art really bad? Yes. Like, what was this renowned artist doing? But still, I didn’t care too much. Is the story unoriginal? Yes. But again: pulpy goodness.

Again, not the best of the Hill House books. Just average, dragged down by the inconsistent art.
