This was somehow the most and least enjoyable book in the series.
Another great book in this fun series! I can't wait to hear more of Merritt, Hulda, Owein, & Co's story.
2.5 stars
Not quite as engaging as the previous books, though still a fun enough read.

he’s a real boy
This story took a turn I didn’t even think for Oweins character. This story had its intense moments but it was fun seeing Hulda and Merritt have this journey in London. I’m hoping to see more of how Owein handles the changes in his life in the next book. Oh and finally a marriage for those two love birds!! I adore how Merritt is turned on by Huldas clavicle. Too cute.

A good continuation and ending for the story. It felt more cohesive than the second book as well.

Merritt and Owein receive an offer they can’t refuse, the opportunity for Owien to have his soul removed from the dog it is in and have a human body again. The offer would involve marrying into the English royal family so traveling to England they meet the prospective bride and her family while working out the details. But all is not well, Hulda has premonitions of danger that soon come true as there are what seem to be various attempts on Merritt’s life indicating someone is really against the whole idea but who is it?
This third entry in the Whimbrel House series focuses on our third main character, Owein, a 200+ year old soul currently trapped in the body of a terrier having spent the previous years trapped, literally, as the house. The romance between Merritt and Hulda progresses, we finally learn what crime Baptiste committed, we meet Druids and learn more about the magic of this alternate 1840s world. While the ending is satisfying we do have loose ends from the last book concerning Myra and her experiments that appear as if they will be addressed in another entry in the series which I will eagerly await. This book and the entire series is highly recommended.

Another delightful entry in the Whimbrel House series! We get plenty of Hulda and Merritt updates, but also even more focus on Owein. It's also intriguing to learn more about how magic works here, particularly with the very structured way it takes place in the book's setting in England. The mystery keeps one guessing too. It will be interesting to see where the series goes next.
