Hmmm….the way I was able to breeze through this story speaks to how well it was written but something just didn’t click for me with the couple. Unfortunately, the amount of grovelling was seriously underwhelming for the years of BS that Flora had to put up with from Alec. I know they’re in the NA age range, but it all felt very high-school in tone and content, so maybe that’s where the disconnect comes from 🤷🏻‍♀️

I did enjoy the interconnection between the packs and the timeline overlap with book 3 (brief as it was), but otherwise just a meh read, overall.

This was my least favorite in the series so far. I can’t get past the fact that if he really liked her that much this whole time, why was he the only one getting his rocks off when they met in the woods? I just didn’t like him and didn’t feel like there was enough groveling for his apology to be compelling.

The world of this series can be pretty bleak, especially for women, and it’s even more pronounced in this book. The early rejection is really rough and hard to read, but like in every other book, it then shifts to showing Flora growing stronger in herself, and Alec is redeemed well. All the same, the tone stays pretty heavy for much of the book. It suits the story, but the ending comes quickly and I would’ve liked to see the happy ending expanded a bit.
