I have devoured the audiobook now bring on the ebook!!! So much excitement. So many thrills and chills. Loved that I didn't see who was causing the problems. Total shocker.

I do love how the rift issue was solved.

I enjoyed this one. I liked how the couple find each other when they arrive at Devil's Armpit and are introduced to Mystic Bayou. They seem to have thoughts and things in common along with being kind people that work for them working together.

I enjoyed how they find each other and grow together. Their solidarity in their lives is something they share and it eventually blooms into friendships they've wanted.

The romance... I found there wasn't a terrible big problem between them. Just working through troubles in town and Cordelia learning more about her power and controlling it. There are a few hiccups, which I enjoyed how they were written. Molly very easily could have taken the path many take with an old, childhood boyfriend. But she takes a path I appreciate much more. We have a few adults here folks!

I loved seeing things unfold with the Rift here. And we get our answers to it. Now, not as much work is done as it's a health hazard, which leads to time at growing friendships and romance. But that's what these books are about. Relationships. This couple is a great pair for this work.

I enjoy the quick one liners or mentions that pop up. Lines that you don't think people would say, but you know they think it. When you hear them say it, it's a hoot. I love these quick clips and seeing the reactions.

It's nice seeing them find friends and chosen family here. It's something they don't really have, and to see how accepted they are, well it's nice.

Actually pretty surprisingly good. Cordelia actually grew as a person and in her powers. There was non-harmful virgin representation and first time sex scene didn’t make me want to jump off of a bridge. And the guessing game with who’s the bad guy and who’s just a red herring was more fun.
There was a resolution and no horribly impossible plot/relationship progression jumps.
All in all - a very decent instalment, but unfortunately it’s still not engaging enough for me to rate it higher. But might be some other persons favourite story?

Molly Harper does it again. I don’t know how, but she has me laughing out loud while walking the dog with every single books she writes. Humor in books is hard! Harper does it with natural ease and perfect timing. The worlds she builds are filled with so much more than romantic love promised by the romance premise. She builds communities full of characters that you want to invite over for a barbecue and hope will lick your forehead so you can be adopted too. I wish I could hang out in mystic bayou with the team.

Also, Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis knock it out of the park with their performances.

The fifth installment in the mystic bayou series did not disappoint! It was exciting to get to know new shifters and to get to the bottom of some of the stranger things happening in the swamp. I am excited to see how the group continues to expand and I am loving the way the found family is coming together!
