The Hill We Climb by Amanda Gorman

A short spoken word poem performed well by the artist.

Oprah's introduction doesn't add much to the book.

The poem features a hopeful message and a few strong lines that I appreciate, but it also regurgitates settler colonial delusions (e.g., America as a benevolent nation) and generally reeks of liberal politics which I have very little patience for. It's certainly fitting for the inauguration of a US president.

We’ve learned that quiet isn’t always peace,
And the norms and notions of what “just is”
Isn’t always justice.

Testo che anticipa la pubblicazione da parte di Garzanti della raccolta di poesie di Amanda Gorman prevista per l'autunno. L'unica speranza è che quest'ultima venga rilasciata con il testo inglese a fronte.

Amazingly well written and beautiful poetry. I’m amazed at how much meaning and emotions can come from such few words.
