But the thing that struck me the most what his obvious and unapologetic desire and attraction to Cora. I love a brooding and slow burn story but it's so refreshing to see a man openly talking about his feelings and making them known, you know?
I also feel like the darkness was balanced in this one. Cora is no damsel in distress and gets toe to toe with Alistair on a daily. She's a badass and adds to the dark element instead of simply accepting it.
The pacing felt a bit slow for the first half of the book but THAT PLOT TWIST at the end made it absolutely worth it. Seriously, mind blown. if
