I enjoyed the story of Hayes and Sav, but did find it a little immature and rushed. Perhaps the miscommunication trope doing its thing…

Overall really enjoyed the couple and story though. And definitely recommend this cute small town series 😍

I'm a sucker for:

💘 small-town romances.
👨🏾‍🚒 fight fighter anything, any genre 🔥
🥰 best friends to lovers
💕second chance romances. This one being a friend's who lost touch and now she's back in town was absolutely perfect.

So basically I went into this book already knowing I was going to like it 😆

What I liked:

🔥 This is the 5th book of the Magnolia Falls series and it's my first book to read of it. I didn't feel lost at all not having read the other 4 books. I could tell the characters from the other books were who they were in this book because of those other books, but I felt the important details about those characters were easily rolled right into this book 5's story without the reader feeling lost or like they've missed something. This book 5 can absolutely be read as a standalone.

🔥 There is smut, but it's written well and it DOES NOT take over the whole book. Even the smut scenes don't take over entire chapters, like some books do. It's sprinkled sporadically, and it was good 🥵, but the author kept the plotline the main focus beautifully.

🔥 The pacing was perfect for me. A little bit of angst, a little bit of mystery, and a whole lot of love between friends and everyone in their circle 🥰

🔥 I loved Savvy's and Hayes's relationship. I loved how their love was friendship-based and it was a DEEP friendship. I'm envious 😆

What I didn't like:

🙄 Hayes, the MMC, was obnoxious. Seriously. I honestly couldn't stand him the further along in the story. Wayyyyy over the top with caring about Savannah, the FMC. Like, dude, she can effing buckle her own seatbelt wtf lol. He treated her like a damn toddler and I couldn't stand it and couldn't stop eyerolling. It wasn't cute to me. I would have been highly annoyed (and Savannah was a lot of the time) and turned OFF if a dude, hot fireman or not, treated me like an invalid all the time. His obsession with her was a little much IMO. #independentwoman

🥱 I felt like the last 20% was just repetition and I kept waiting for the story to end, because it seemed like the story was finished, but just kept going?

Other than that, 5⭐! I loved this book and highly recommend for small-town romance lovers!

All right, so, uhm... I have mixed feelings about this book. Even though it seems like there are a lot of issues in this book, they all seem to be resolved and go away without a trace, and I ended up enjoying it more than I should have. I was so happy that I was cartwheeling and twirling around. I also do agree that this was the best way to wrap up the series. I've been waiting for Hayes's own book since I read the third book, and I'm quite satisfied with this book as well.

Although I don't think Savannah was a very good main character because I think she's less likeable, I'm happy that my opinion of her has changed because I fell in love with her as soon as her characters started to alter during the narrative. She has a strong and distinct personality and is quite intriguing. Savvy is an extremely entertaining and humorous girl who doesn't hesitate to do anything she sets her mind to. It goes without saying that I adore Hayes, since I have already expressed how eager I was to read his own novel after finishing the third. He was the person who was given the most responsibility. He had a difficult life and endured a lot of hardship, which contributed to his cold and surly demeanor. However, he only begins to change when Savannah returns to town.

Even though their relationship was formed while they were young and suffered a great deal after a ten-year separation, I think it moved quickly once they reconnected. The marriage of convenience tropes definitely helped speed up the process of them seeing each other as a real couple. For me, this had a minor impact on the plot because after about half of the book, the speed slowed down and there wasn't much going on besides the confusing push and pull between Hayes and Savannah. Though I was reading more slowly, I was nevertheless entertained by the tale of these two. And I must admit that I had anticipated the small twist from the start, the final few chapters rekindled my excitement. Once again, I was impressed by the strength of the friendships and the author's excellent execution of the found family trope in this book (series). Likewise, I wanted to acknowledge Andi Arndt and Lee Samuels for narrating this book. I loved how they brought the characters to life and portrayed them so accurately.

Overall, I had an absolute blast devouring this series! Every couple’s relationship was fascinating, intriguing, and deeply engaging, with spicy banter and swoon-worthy moments that kept me hooked. The found family trope woven throughout the series was incredibly charming and endearing, adding a heartfelt touch to the story. If you're in the mood for a well-written small-town romance filled with scorching chemistry, gripping connections, and memorable moments, this series is an absolute must-read! ❤️💜💙💚💛
