I have to say, the art alone is a beyond five stars. Valero-O'Connell's linework is nothing short of enchanting. All the textures, color choices, and facial expressions are incredible.

I'm going to individually rate the three stories.

2 stars: Don't Go Without Me
I thought the premise of this one was interesting. I enjoyed more of the design and conception of the other world more than the storyline.

5 stars: What Is Left
Wow! This is the standout story of this collection. The dialogue conveyed the story and emotions so well. The concept was original and captivating.

4 stars: Con Temor, Con Ternura
I loved the exploration and the philosophy in this story. The color palette worked SO well together, I never thought pinks and grey-blues would fit that cohesively.

Summary: I'm stunned. Eagerly waiting for the next collection.

Beautiful art! I'm not a huge fan of ambiguous endings so I wish these short stories would've been just a tad longer, but I still had a wonderful time with all of them.

Maybe I just missed the point here, but I felt confused all during the last two stories. Not only could I not make sense of them, but I didn't care enough about the characters to want to. The first story was great and super interesting, and I honestly would have preferred for that to be the entirety of the story. The illustration was stunning though, and even if I didn't fully understand what was going on, I was able to appreciate the artistry.

A masterpiece, specially the first story. The drawings are full of details, and the stories are really very well written.

Content Notes: memory loss, manipulation, isolation, impending doom

If any comic is exemplary of the visual craft of comics, it's this collection! My goodness, the strength of these pages' illustrations was genuinely a feast for the eyes! For that alone, I would recommend getting your hands on a copy of this, truly.

It was wonderful to read this while reviewing the digital library of comics devices from Reimena Yee, too. I found it really helpful to see such strong examples of comics devices "in the wild" while trying to study more of them.

I found the stories interesting, too, although I gotta say that the art was much stronger for me than the stories themselves. I found the reading to be a bit tedious after the first story, to be honest. It relied heavily on telling in the script rather than showing, which would draw me out of the incredibly well drawn moments. It felt like they didn't quite flow as one entity most of the time.

But goddamn, did the art make up for that! It was truly just absolutely stunning to look at. It was so meticulously executed. The compositions were carefully considered for maximum impact of each and every panel and page, and the use of values alone made my heart flutter. The was Rosemary Valero-O'Connell illustrates just takes my breath away, and I spent a good deal of time just admiring all the details of the pages.

Beautiful work, I absolutely recommend checking it out for yourself!

What a STUNNING book and series of short stories. Rosemary Valero-O’Connell is here showing the world that nof only can she make incredible art but she can tell phenomenal stories too. These are next level beautiful and are an absolute must-read. My only regret here is having bought the digital version of this book because now all I want is the physical version to flip through regularly.
