Short, satisfying visit to Harbormouth in this bridge story between [b:Burning Bright|17190893|Burning Bright (Ivy Granger, #3)|E.J. I've enjoyed all the novels and stories in the Ivy Granger, Psychic Detective series… including this one. From book to book and story to story, the characters continue to evolve as they interact with each other.

Along with human inhabitants, Harborsmouth is home to all kinds of paranormal beings, including the demon child Sparky that Ivy and her roommate Jinx have adopted. Much to Ivy's chagrin, Jinx is currently dating Forneus, the Grand Marquis of Hell. To round out this supernatural multicultural mix is Kate, a witch who despises demons.

Sparky has come down with something that is making him truly ill. Ivy and Jinx need help figuring this out. What are his adoptive moms to do? You will find out when you read this short tale of mysterious mayhem.

I read the first book in this series. I like the series. I like that something goes bump in the night or without human knowledge in this book. It was a cute short story and I really like the character of Ivy. This book made me giggle! *This book was given to me for free at my request from NetGalley and I provided this voluntary review.*

Sweet and short!

This was short and adorable. Sparky is so definitely Ivy’s child and this was very interesting. The length meant that it was intriguing and no huge monologues. I loved the ending and the way that Sparky has become part of the family.

I really loved this book when I was just at the first page. It is a rapid fire full of dialogue, action and many small parts of being-a-demon thing. I've never read before anything about a young demon, or a girl demon, in this case Ivy, who wants to protect the outer world from demons even from herself. It is fluid and it can be read easily.

This is a short story in the Ivy Granger, Psychic Detective series by E.J. Stevens. It could be enjoyed on its own but will probably be more fun if you’re already familiar with these characters.

This is a comical short story about why not to mess with Ivy’s demon child. I enjoy the character interactions and humorous dialog in this series. This particular story felt a bit rushed and ended too abruptly for my preference—I wish we had a chance to learn a little more about the bad guys and what they were up to.

Demons are summoned and violence ensues, but nothing is depicted graphically. There is some mild swearing, but it’s generally terms like “Oberon’s balls,” which I found amusing.

If you enjoy snarky urban fantasy, I recommend this book and the entire Ivy Granger series, as well as any of Ms. Stevens’ other books in this setting. They all make great choices for listening, too, if you’re a fan of audiobooks.

The author gave me a free review copy of the ebook, and I volunteered to provide an honest review.
