This book was one of my favorites in my mother's personal library. From a very young age, I loved studying the illustrations and, later, reading the descriptions. As much as I loved the pretty faeries, I was fascinated even more so by the evil, ugly ones that terrified me (though I couldn't look away). So nostalgic for this book...

This is wonderfully researched and overflowing with folklore about the realm of Faeries. Both artists add their own flair to help us see a world that is often invisible, bringing it to life before our eyes. Highly recommend!

This book was good. Not deeply informative, but with a decent amount of information presented in an enjoyable style. The pictures were well done, though the by hand script was difficult to read at times.

Owned this years ago, and finally getting to re-read bits and pieces. Kelpie still my very favorite of Froud's pictures.

Prevod me je stalno izbacivao iz uživanja u tekstu, a vala i iz informisanosti, jer morala sam da guglam stvari koje su delovale nelogično. Uz to, volela bih da sam videla i žensku perspektivu u ilustracijama, jer kao vodili su se tekstovima Lejdi Vajld, ali crteži su mahom ženske sisurde i muške kraste.

Gorgeous illustrations, and there is a lot of detail about creatures in traditional folklore, including some I hadn't heard of. Very nice discovery.
