Well, I’ll certainly never look at a spiral the same way.
I really liked this volume! Even tho I think volume two had the most horrifying imagery (although Ito didn’t hold back with this one either. I mean, the people in the row houses? The warts thing? Yikes), this one had a lot more structure and continuity to it. The whole volume read like a single story, instead of simply connected short stories, and I really appreciated that, specially since it helped build up tension as our protagonists try to find their way in this chaotic town and face the powerlessness and despair of their situation. I also really appreciate how much of the horror came from how people started to behave in monstrous ways as the spiral curse turned everything to madness.
Kirie still felt like a cardboard cutout in terms of showing emotions and that she was truly affected by all the horrific things happening around her, but I really liked Chie and Suichi. The ending was a little vague and... not as scary as I expected it to be? Tragic, for sure, but I’m not sure how I feel about it.
Overall, Uzumaki was disturbingly amazing, and an awesome dive into what horror mangas can offer me.

Last volume of Uzumaki. These manga gave me bizarre reading experience. Amusing.
All I can say is the plot is unusual, kind of sad too in the last chapters with odd ending.
The subliminal message I get from the story is, how hard you make drastic change, your root will always call back. Even if you ignore it, your root can suddenly drag you back as a part of who you originally are.
Probably gonna read another Ito's creations in the future.

The ending kept me on my nerves, but it was really addicting and I think it was a great conclusion of events
