So my friend convinced me to read this book after she read it and I am now obsessed with it. The first 100ish pages are super slow and info-dumpy but as soon as Baz shows up the story takes off. I am absolutely obsessed with Baz. The enemies to lovers in this book are amazing. I love Simon and Baz together so much. The plot to me was so interesting even though I guessed the plot twist at the end with the Mage. I really enjoyed the friendships in this book even though I am not the biggest fan of Agatha. I even hate her name. This book is like harry potter but with gayness and vampires and I am obsessed with it.

This book was exactly what I needed after reading a long, heavy series. This is a fantastic "coming of age" self-discovery book in the YA/NA category with themes of overcoming trauma, complicated family dynamics, and  questioning authority - all while somehow remaining light and hopeful.

I REALLY wanted to love it, and I think Rainbow Rowell is a great writer - just couldn't help like feeling like a parody of Harry Potter mixed with Twilight and I really couldn't get over it. I wasn't sure if it was *meant* to be a comedy, but I found it so much like a satirical mimicry that I really couldn't enjoy it.

THIS BOOOOOOOOOk! I’m going to force all my friends to read it.
I’ve fell in love with Baz and Simon and their relationship, it’s just so cute but not overly cute, it felt real. I was waiting for that kiss trough the whole book!
Btw real talk right here:
- I knew right away the mage was the one
- I admit that he did a good job hiding his craziness tho
- Agatha is low key annoying and I “hated” her chapters ( wasn’t HATE but it was eh not this again )
- Even tho Baz is clearly gay, he is such a catch! And I like him more than Simon BUT Simon is (kinda) better at expressing his feelings, he is a confused lil fellow and still manages to tell Baz how much he wants and loves him

Okay I guess that’s it, I’ve finished it a few days ago and can’t wait to have someone to talk about it with.

5/5 stars. This book was incredible. Probably my favorite of the year so far. I was nervous because it has been a hit or miss with me for the authors other books. So glad I didnt read this at the published date because then I would’ve had to wait an eternity for book two. Simon and Baz and Penelope are such well rounded and fleshed out characters that just make me SO HAPPY. No bad things to say about this book at all. Such an easy book to read and one that helped my mood when I really wasnt feeling great. 100/100 stars to Mrs. Rowell
