I didn’t love this as much as I wanted to. It dragged for me in the middle. Still not sure what the point of Peter and Clara’s storyline was but it’s obviously to be continued in the next book. Which I probably will read despite only rating each of the first three 3 stars. I like the Three Pines setting with its quirky residents (although I’m not sure how much murder and mystery one tiny village can provide, and this series has a LOT of books…) and Gamache is an interesting character. But if book #4 doesn’t get past 3 stars, I’m done.

I very much enjoyed this book. Listening to the audiobook for #2 gave me a better idea of how to pronounce everything, which made the reading smoother. The story moves along nicely, and I imagine the complete outline on the author’s wall in colored notecards.
