I love a weird book as much as the next person and there are aspects of this book that I enjoyed. However there are also a lot that just didn't hit. I enjoy a short dissent into madness and I can get behind a woman's wrongs. I also enjoyed the dissent into potential serial killer vibes.

I loved the concept and the idea and the cover and everything else.

I didn't like any of the characters. Maybe none of them were supposed to be likable. I don't know. I wanted something more from a "horror" book. While aspects about this book were horrifying it was not what I expect from horror.

Also how did she get away with all of this? How did nobody know or see? That doesn't make sense to me.

This was so good! It was creepy and disgusting but also empowering at the same time? I would definitely recommend this if you’re interested in finding out if the eyes are the best part.

Definitely pay attention to content warnings!

Wow. This book is horrific. I will never be able to get the descriptions of
eating eyeballs out of my head. While I suspected a tumor due to the light and headaches Ji-won was experiencing, I didn't anticipate her remaining a killer once the tumor was removed. Her framing Geoffrey was masterful.
  Really well done horror novel.

Is it bad after reading I want to say “good for her” 👁️

The Eyes Are The Best Part is a dark, unsettling horror that follows Ji-won as she descends down a dark path after her father’s affair and her mother’s new white boyfriend moves in.

I’m glad I went in blind to the book as I didn’t expect it to be so dark and unhinged as it was. The book is a mixture of family drama and horror and I think Monika balanced them well. She invested me with this family so when someone new tries to come in I felt Ji-Won’s anger.

The book kept me on edge all the way through, I didn’t know if part of it was real or not. What the hell was actually happening to Ji-Won and was someone actually following her. All this leads to a bloody conclusion that had me shocked. She really pulled an Amy Dunne at the end 😌

This is a tough book to rate. Wow. At first, I was all for the MC. But then the story evolved and she showed more of her flaws and wow. Complex and so good. I can't wait to see what this author does next!
