Monster Kill!

Action-packed until the end, with a whole lot of promise for the next book in the series.

An important book in the series, but a little slow compared to the others.

More of the same, but weaker story/plot than I recall the other books having. Magical things just seem to happen to the protagonist - he's not really in control of the story at all.

I loved the action, adventure, drama and comedy that is all interwoven in the novel. The epicness has continued to grow and seens will not stop going foward. The fights are bigger and more and more is at stake. I would highly recommend this series to anyone who likes high action adventure. they are non stop roller coster thrill ride. Mr. Correia please keep the books in this series coming.

I'll be honest, I really struggled to get thru this book.

Past books have been fast paced, full of action, and humor, but not terribly deep, which is fine.

This book though, I found struggled to maintain any pacing, or exciting momentum. It seemed to get bogged down with the mass of the world that Correia has created up to this point, and failed to keep things interesting.

There are a lot of quick segments of interactions between various global Monster Hunters and MHI. However, most of these interactions are pretty shallow and not terribly interesting.

The big climax of the story instead devolves into a weird, strung out climax that just sort of ends with main character plot armor.

Despite invading a literal city of monsters, almost none of this action or these creatures are shown.

In many ways this felt like filler for real developments in the overarching story.

The final 100 pages (I read the paperback) should have been an action packed explosion of energy. But they ended up being a lot of walking, talking about walking and how the other dimension sucks, followed by really only 1-2 genuinely interesting scenes.

Perhaps because I was listening to the Dresden Files while reading this, and was expecting something better, but this volume of Monster Hunter was really not too good.

If I could give half a star this would be 1.5.

Gave this series a long pause, glad I got back to it, though. Siege is my favorite so far, it brings the threads together, and even though a lot of it is unapologetic gear porn, it's also very tense. Plus it made me cry a few of my very own tears
when Owen's dad's ghost appears in the nightmare realm
