I love urban chickens! We have a town nearby (Oviedo) which has chickens that roam in their downtown, Jim has a cousin with chickens, and I have a past student with chickens. I love the idea of mixing farm animals and cities because it adds a bit of whimsy and quietness to the bustle and hustle.

Though in Chickens on the Loose the chickens definitely add whimsy but are not quiet–instead they add a bit of chaos.

In a humorous adventure, these urban chickens don't just venture into their neighbor's yard but decide to see all of Portland for themselves. Stop! cry the humans, but the chickens will not stop. What mischief will they get into next?

With fun illustrations and a simple rhyme scheme, this book is perfect for laugh-out-loud storytime.

I received an eARC courtesy of West Margin Press via Edelweiss in exchange for my honest review.

This book didn't particularly wow me, but I think that kids will really enjoy the chaos (I particularly enjoy the diversity).
