I loved this but book! It is a quick read, full of heart. It pulled me out of a reading rut and had me postponing all the other things I needed to do so I could finish it. This book is about Enid who can’t stop listening to true crime podcasts, knows a lot about space, and is a character I completely fell in love with by the end of this story. And it’s not just Enid- there are so many things I enjoyed about this book- writing is great, there are complex characters, interesting family dynamics, and of course a lot of interesting facts about space.

As a character-driven story, Enid is the friend you never knew you needed. The author swung my emotions from humor to heartbreak, often within the same paragraph. Lines like "I feed the evil bug in my heart depraved stories. I distract myself and soothe him in a little bath of horrors until my anger simmers and my molars unclench” stopped me in my tracks, but the rushed and somewhat simplistic ending was disappointing and kept this from being a 4-star read.

"Interesting Facts About Space" is a thought-provoking read. Its charm, humor, and relatable FMC make it worth the read. I loved the portrayal of a neurodivergent character with a hearing disability.

Perfect in every single way. Emily Austin’s writing is just alive, there’s no other way for me to explain it. All of the characters, especially the narrator, are so lovable and easy to connect with.

The characters are especially diverse, and I really loved the representation of people who struggle with mental illness, LGBTQIA+ people and their relationships, and those who are neurodivergent.

I love the way this story approached our flaws as humans and how they (and trauma) affect us and aid in determining how we interact with the world around us.

Endearing, heartwarming, reflective, AND funny??? Just beautiful. 5 stars. No notes.

An absolute masterpiece once again from Emily Austin. Please rush out and snag this when it’s released later this month because she just understands what it’s like to be so in your head all the time and how to overcome it. This book is laugh out loud funny - seriously I was guffawing - and also so touching that I had tears in my eyes. A new favorite for me for sure!!

I wasn’t sure about this one when I started- the pace and structure of the story felt a little erratic to me and it was hard to get my groove while reading. As the story progressed and I got to know the protagonist, Enid, I better understood the uniqueness of the structure and it how it immersed me into Enid’s mind.

This story is funny and lighthearted while also a heart wrenching look back at childhood with themes of depression, abandonment, loneliness, trauma, and PTSD. Enid’s journey of self discovery was a really lovely (and sometimes difficult) read, the supporting characters were lovable and memorable, and I got some great space facts along the way. Who knew that it rains diamonds on Jupiter and Saturn and a day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus?!

I relly enjoyed Everyone In This Room Will Someday Be Dead so I was so excited to have the chance to read this book. Off the bat, there are a lot of similarities, focusing on a twenty-something lesbian struggling with their mental health, with a similar voice of narration. However, there were enough differences to make the protagonists and stories feel different.

I liked the story here, especially the exploration of the effects of a difficult childhood, and the growth of the relationship with different family members. I also enjoyed the central element of Enid struggling with her fear of being a bad person, and felt moved by her grappling with this.

I will say I found some of the explanations for things that come up weren't as impactful as they could have been.
A few of her paranoias are revealed to have just been people lying/gaslighting her, which doesn't feel like there's much of a lesson for her to learn? Just relief that she's not 'crazy', and I wonder if this could have maybe been handled in a different way.

I know a lot of people will be excited for this, If you liked her previous work, it won't disappoint, but I also can see her writing won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
