I really LOVED this book. The main character is imperfect and a mess. I enjoyed the pace and imperfections of the story and its characters and I was sad when I finished it because that meant I was done. The characters felt very real and relatable. At first I didn’t think I would’ve been so attached but I really did fall in love with this book and it’s cast of characters.

I wasn’t sure about this one when I started- the pace and structure of the story felt a little erratic to me and it was hard to get my groove while reading. As the story progressed and I got to know the protagonist, Enid, I better understood the uniqueness of the structure and it how it immersed me into Enid’s mind.

This story is funny and lighthearted while also a heart wrenching look back at childhood with themes of depression, abandonment, loneliness, trauma, and PTSD. Enid’s journey of self discovery was a really lovely (and sometimes difficult) read, the supporting characters were lovable and memorable, and I got some great space facts along the way. Who knew that it rains diamonds on Jupiter and Saturn and a day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus?!
