This book feels personal. The rambling of a paranoid lesbian that somehow felt relatable despite not having all that much in common with this character.

I really LOVED this book. The main character is imperfect and a mess. I enjoyed the pace and imperfections of the story and its characters and I was sad when I finished it because that meant I was done. The characters felt very real and relatable. At first I didn’t think I would’ve been so attached but I really did fall in love with this book and it’s cast of characters.

I am so floored at how this book sucked me in. It was relatable, intriguing, and heartbreaking while not being too dark to put down. There was always a small lightness to bring you back to earth.
I’ve absolutely spiraled like Enid, and my love for true crime also challenges my morality for liking it.
I hope your mom is wearing lipstick.

I’m sad I finished this. Enid is such a complex, weird, relatable character (while also being completely unreliable) that you can’t help but root for, even when she makes questionable decisions.

While I enjoyed the book, I had some grievances with the writing. It was fast paced, which was nice, but there were so many section breaks, like I was constantly thrown from scene to the next (although to be fair, adds to the protagonist’s relatability as the narrator). It seemed a little sloppy.

Lastly, the Ainsley slander was uncalled for, we’re not all hellish

it’s devastating and hopeful at the same time. It reads like how we actually think as human beings; disjointed but still cohesive. you find yourself drawn into the story and Enid and her relationships with the people around her.

The main character, Enid, is frustrating at times but you can’t help but root for her. There are also a lot of true crime/serial killer references which I wasn’t a big fan of, but I understand why they were included.

Ultimately, seeing the what/why unfold in the end was fun and I appreciate how mental illness and trauma were presented in an authentic, messy way.
