Enjoyable hockey romance. Sweet and light-hearted. Needed something light after reading a heavy book. Continuing on to the second book in the series.

3.5
(I have marked it as four stars, which I'm not completely comfortable with, but 3 seems cruel, since I did like it so, yeah, service announcement)

I really enjoyed the romance, but this first one was more problematic than the rest of the series in terms of sexist expressions. I just find that after reading all of the other ones, which are absolutely fantastic, I was disappointed - I know that's not completely fair, since this is the first book in the series, and the author obviously evolved. Is this book worth reading? Yes. Is it full of derogatory language? No. But there are a couple of times that "bitch" and "ladies/like a girl" expressions were used, and I'm just so tired of seeing it.

Non-rant version: read this first one or skip it - just definitely continue with the series.

Lane is charmingly oblivious about a lot of things. He has an air of innocence about him. He can't deal with feelings. And he doesn't have a filter. No wonder Jared fall for him. Lane brought some sunshine in his life.
I enjoyed this a lot. And while I loved the progression of the relationship, by the time I reached the middle of the story, it was a done deal. From than on there wasn't anything important happening. I wouldn't say it was boring, coz the shit that comes out of Lane's mouth is astonishing and I was entertained, but it did drag a bit. Especially if someone doesn't care about all the hockey stuff, It can be quite dry.

I love Lane so much. Jared is also great.

Lane is one of the best characters I’ve ever read.

The supportive relationship is everything to me.

I cry.

3.75. Very hockey heavy and kinda full of not important details, but as someone who loves hockey and knows enough about it, I still enjoyed it.

Another good hockey romance! I loved all the bi rep and the unique MCs. Haven’t seen a whole lot of them like Lane especially. The story did drag a bit toward the end for me as it tied up every little thread for a perfect HEA (which isn’t my personal favorite nor need in a romance) but I enjoyed it overall. This one is a light and heartwarming tale with low angst; it’s perfect for when you want some hockey mm but not the usual drama alongside it.
Excited to see the sequel is about Riley — just as I had hoped! I’ll be continuing this series soon for sure.

Adorable. I loved Lane and Jared!

Trying to get into the M/M genre, I was recommended to read some Avon Gale. But let me say, if you’re looking to do the same, do not let this be your first. The enemies to lovers piqued my interests. The cringy fanfiction esque dialog and strange protag turned me off. There’s quite a few sex parts which is cool, but the interactions between them weren’t worth sitting through.

If i had to briefly describe this story I’d say its very clumsy and super horny. Added a star for the potential the characters had and for Jared. The parts of the book in the love interest’s POV were more enjoyable as he had more coherent thought processes and had some kind of dimension and character.

After having read the second book in the series I was happy to read this one and make some more sense out of things!
