Overall very lukewarm. I guess I expected more interaction at the college, kinda got bored with them being at camp the whole time and I found that I better enjoyed the college aspect of these novels.

Also i doubt I'm right but this relationship felt the least problematic in it's development aside from having their own baggage obviously, it still felt like development was the most innocent (maybe it's because it was set during camp).

Xander is my favorite (MVP) .

Rory felt half baked or meh in terms of her character and I didn't really care for what she said half the time.

JJ really is that dude (I think).

Russ is cute.
funny lighthearted relaxing

I enjoyed this book. Easy to read and engaging. The characters were likeable. Sweet summer romance but with GOOD character development and redemption arcs.
Their relationship was more than just a hook up and surface level daddy issues
Was nice to see the miscommunication thing beating acknowledged and fought against (good job Aurora).
Oooh and no Third Act breakup. Thank you Very much!

Tropes
✔️ close proximity
✔️ second chance (kinda)
✔️ Daddy Issues
✔️ Trauma Bonding
✔️ Summer Romance

Spoilers ahead...duh

Things I liked:
✔️ communication between the characters. Even when they were both upset
✔️ spice wasn’t plot damaging
✔️ character development between FMC and MMC but also other characters around them

I’m not a fan of the trauma bonding trope but I gotta admit it worked in this case.

I feel very seen at the way aurora explains why she makes connections with people as a way to feel wanted

The conversations they have with one another make their relationship so much more genuine because they know each other from an emotional level rather than just someone they hooked up with and continued to hook up with throughout summer

I didn’t particularly like how Russ treated Aurora after she answered his phone, buuuutt I get it cos his boundaries were crossed and she put him in a position he didn’t want to be in.

Things we never found out:
- who else was hooking up at camp?? (My bets are on Clay and Maya)
- Is Russ’s brother okey…? Slight mention of drugs related to Ethan but it never goes further than that. The last thing that guy needs after his dad gambling addiction is his brothers drug addiction…

Editors note: dreamland billionaire series and Twisted games mention

3.5

This was really cute and I loved the summer camp setting but it just didn't hit as hard as Icebreaker did. Aurora and Russ were both great characters and I really liked that their lives paralleled each other in a lot of ways. They were sweet together and had such a genuine connection but I just wasn't obsessed with them. There were some adorable moments but a lot of the dialogue just felt cheesy for some reason?

I'd still recommend this for a fun summary romance but it's not a new favourite which is a bit disappointing

This was leagues better than Icebreaker because the characters actually liked and respected each other and were very likeable themselves, but, man, I wish we got more of the summer camp. In fact, I don't think much summer-camping happened at all. Did the kids even show up? Or did this all happen in pre-training?

Ok I loved more Icebreaker, but this was equally amazing, cute and sensible , I loved Russ and Aurora. Their story was cute and fun. And definitely more deep. 100 % will recommend
