I was really worried that they would have him lose and I didn’t love the whole dad concept, but overall solid read

This was such a good palette cleanser! I liked the way tennis was portrayed. The sport scenes were fast paced and well described enough for the reader to understand the rules of tennis. 🎾

The characters didn’t stick out to me, but I enjoyed reading their story.
However, do not go into this book thinking that it’s enemies to lovers, they just dislike each other for the first couple of chapters. (Though I think that’s the case for almost every romance book marketed as enemies to lovers) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Since Wimbledon is on at the minute, naturally I had to pick up this book as it’s the perfect time of year for it. This was a fun cutesy sport romance that had all the right things to make it a light summer read.

Last year I read Love Game by Emma Rae and really enjoyed it so was looking forward to diving into another tennis romance and it didn’t disappoint. It had all the essential components of strawberries and cream, Pimm’s and of course a fit Irish tennis player as our leading man. I really liked both Flora and Kieran together, it was good getting to know them and follow them on their whirlwind romance over Wimbledon. Their chemistry was quite good and I liked their witty banter between each other and how they were both very supportive.

This book played it safe and was full of cliché moments, nothing major stood out and there was no intense drama, but sometimes that’s ok. It was very predictable and the ending was straight out of a romcom but it was still enjoyable. I could visualise it all so well and it had so many movie moments. I was looking forward to pick it up every time and I love the whole tennis aesthetic.

While it did try to give the characters deeper backstories, it was still quite lighthearted. Of course the whole thing was highly unrealistic and it all happened so fast, I think they could have disliked each other a bit more to make it proper enemies to lovers.

Overall I had a good time with this book and was just what I needed to get out of a reading slump and it was great to read while Wimbledon has been playing in the background. I’ve got Katherine Reilly’s next book, Ride the Wave, which gives us Iris’ story so I’m looking forward to giving that a read at some point.

Anyway, back to watching the second week of Wimbledon!!

TÃO BOM!!! 🙌🏼🎾💖
