I’ve read a lot about the Simpsons over the years, but Alan is a real fan who gets great access to key series’ shapers. What I think this book gets so right is tracing the through lines of the history of the sitcom through the Simpsons. How the show was an evolution of Happy Days, All in the Family, the Cosby show etc. Every book about the Simpsons will have key statements about characterization of Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa but this is the first book I’ve read going into how formative Klasky Culpo was to the animation of the show. Well done and I’d recommend to any fan of TV, comedy, and of course monorails.
