4.5 stars. I truly enjoyed this book. For a YA novel it held my attention and warmed my heart. I loved the families, the friends, the dates and how the relationship grew, the love/history of music & books, the introspection of the main characters. I will say that Dani's friends read a little older than high school, but it didn't spoil the story. Prince & Dani really won my heart.

I looooved this little story! This is the perfect novel for the teens breaking into romance novels. Not only is it a teenage love story it’s an ode to Detroit. That’s so damn dope

I never wrote a review before no book that I’ve ever read so far in my reading journey has made me wanna write a review hit my soul hit my emotions and everything in between. This book was fantastic. At first. It was a slow start. I was thinking I wasn’t gonna like it, but as the book continued, I fell in love with it. I fell in love with the romance. I watch a lot of book YouTuber but when they talk about there five star romance, they talk about how their characters have bond not physically but emotionally and I felt that with prince and Danielle had that connection emotionally. when they both let each other go to make each other better and that’s a real love is when you can let someone heal for themself and not try to force them to heal with you let the experience you had with them make your love grow and not use it to hurt you more. And the friendships in this book I need friendships like this. If I don’t have of this, I don’t want it. Prince boys were down for him from his lowest point to his highest. Danielle friends a real ones for never letting feel like she has to go through stuff alone, letting her have her time to herself, but always coming back to her and even if she wanted time to herself, not letting her get into a place where she couldn’t get back out. I love this book so much.

Thoughts

"I read somewhere that the best lovers are best friends first. And Prince, you’ve become my very best friend. That’s what I missed the most. I missed our laughs, and our talks… and your clumsy ass."

This was a really cute YA romance combines two arts: literature and music! I loved all the references and loved how the author spoke of the importance of each.

"Nothing. I’m just… happy to see you look so content. I hope one day you look at me the way you looked at that donut.” I almost choke from laughing. For a minute I did almost forget he was here."

It was funny and serious at times. And man the hair scene got me! That was a moment.

"That's what love looks like. It's not always about the flowers and grand gestures, but this right here. Being completely yourself with another person in the moment, and them accepting no less of you."

This was is a good one if you like YA romance.
