I absolutely loved We Set the Dark on Fire, but the sequel did not do it for me. The plot was lacking, and it was very slow-paced. It felt like nothing happened, and the back-and-forth between Dani and Carmen felt tired.

This book was definitely way more interesting and fast-paced than the first one. I liked that both of the main girls in this duology got their own book. I found some of the characters decisions to be rash at times and not always make sense. For example the leader of the resistance just betrays them because he is embarrassed by his mistakes? I don’t know that just doesn’t make much sense to me and I can’t see a person doing that. The conclusion was a very YA ending bad guys put away, the “hopeless” romance has hope, maybe a couple deaths but nothing major. Which is fine I liked it. This book had a very easy to follow plot and it was a nice little in between duology to read while getting my March tbr ready. Overall very cute and very sapphic!!
