Felt a little too rushed at times but overall was a lot of fun.
DELICIOUS, SCRUMPTIOUS CONCLUSION! An absolute roar of a sequel, I very much recommend this story. The sequel avoided some tropes I don’t enjoy, and leaves with a satisfying ending. Again, some plot twists are quite predictable, but it’s a good book.
I was anxious the whole time and a lot of it seemed extra :/

I found this repetitive, falling victim to 'telling, not showing', and
There was some interesting world building in the first book which I hoped the second one would flesh out, hence why I gave it a go even though I didn't necessarily enjoy the first one.
I did appreciate the internal conflict, wondering about who to trust and given that the book is written from Carmens POV, acknowledging that she didn't work in a trustworthy manner either further muddying the waters on that - that was the most interesting part of the book for me.
I didn't love the first book though, so bear that in mind.
I didn't hate it, 2 stars for me sits squarely in the "It was okay" camp.

And the immigration politics that was intriguing in the first book? That, and poisoned knives - those sound boss.Spoiler
Also, Dani is missing for the first half of the book - so if you loved Dani's narration, you'll find it sorely missing in this one.I didn't love the first book though, so bear that in mind.

1. It’s from Carmen’s POV, and I really over love that because it showed me how differently and sometimes similarly she and Dani thought about things.
2. The storyline is amazing. It’s enough action to keep you interested, but there’s thill the love story element that makes it heartfelt. (P.S. I really loved the fight scenes).
3. Anytime I end up talking to the book, I know it’s good. There were certain times I caught myself telling characters not to do something, knowing good and well that the book is already written lol.
4. I loved the twists and turns. There were a few that I figured out early on, and I’m sure that was intentional. The other ones I wasn’t ready for, and I appreciate that the author included both.
5. I think this book would be great for readers of all ages because the author is really good at bringing in themes that we currently deal with. I found myself making connections between our current world and the world of the novel.
