Enjoyed this second installment of the Shetland series. The sense of place was a strong component in this book; atmospheric, quietly propulsive, and red herrings aplenty. Will definitely read the next one!

Väga palju kirjeldusi (aga ilmselt Shetlandi saare jaoks loomulik), sünge lugu ja tegelikult üsna ennustatav mõrvar. Aga muidu ikkagi üsna nauditav lugemine ja kohati põnev ka :)

The second in the Shetland Quartet is set during midsummer when long periods of sunlight cause everyone to go a bit mad. The beautiful writing captures the mood and ambiance of Shetland, as well as provides rich characters. The story centers around a case involving a mysterious stranger who turns up at an art exhibition, makes a scene, and winds up dead. A second body turns up shortly afterwards but it not clear if the deaths are linked. As the pieces of the puzzle are revealed, it becomes clear that stories from the past have a bearing on the current situation. A solid second offering in this series that makes me eager to read the third soon.

I really enjoy this series. It had me guessing until the end. I don't want to spoil anything, but I do wonder what's next for a primary character. Looking forward to #3.

Just what you need on holiday at the bottom of the beach bag. It doesn’t matter if it gets wet. Passable
