That was fun but also sorry not sorry but Ryodan pining after Dani is what makes this book for me.

3.5 stars! The whole preteen-dani-love-square debacle is now a whole lot better. It will take a while to get used to though. I prefer Dani, so I hope she comes back soon. this book simply didn't wow me as much as the series used to. Looking forward to the next one anyways, it's a good read.

Wow. I hated this so much. For one: I hate when books change POVs just when the action starts happening. It frustrates the hell out of me. Soap operas do the same thing and even as child it confounded me. Why are they cutting away from the scene when it’s not finished? As an adult I know: it’s a cheap tactic to keep the viewer watching.

KMM doesn’t need cheap tactics, and I’m super disappointed that this was employed here. There was so much goddamn prevaricating and nothingness happening! What was the point of this book? It could damn well have been cut down to a couple of chapters of something much more substantial.

This is also the book where I’m completely off Jerricho Barrons. And honestly? Mac too. But Jerricho crossed a line and violated Mac in such a deep way even EYE feel betrayed by it. The whole time after reading it I kept thinking, “She’d better fight with him. Because this is a FUCKING FIGHT.” And what do we get? More nothingness! And that motherfucker has the audacity to not even apologize? Once again I say: I like my romantic male leads to at least like the FMC or what the fuck is the point? If I wanted to read about trash men I’d reactivate my Hinge profile.

This book ruined that wonderful feeling I had reading Iced and may have also ruined Dani which is just fucking sad.

I don’t understand the point of cutting to Lor’s POV at all (and much more frequently than another major player like say, Kat??). I’m happy for him and everything, but his chapters were just more soap opera trickery chomping away at the momentum of the main story.

And my biggest gripe? Burned is supposedly in the Dani O’Malley Trilogy and yet she is barely in it. DUDE.

Burned definitely started out at more of a 3.5/4 for me because, after being introduced to the Dani-as-narrator thing in Iced, I was salty as hell to be stuck with Mac. It didn't help that Mac is dealing with all these feelings of inadequacy and helplessness that didn't make for a super exciting read. But then we met Jada. And figured out ~the deal~ with Jada. And I was HOOKED. Her ambiguous and addictive tension with Ryordan was so much fun, and I loved learning so much about Ryo in this book. The quest in Burned isn't as high-stakes nail-biting as in most of the Fever books, but I wasn't mad about it. KMM continues to build a world that is unpredictable and a joy to read about.

3.5 Stars

I was really hesitant to read BURNED because it's gotten so many mixed reviews. I decided to be brave and give it a try and I found that it was a pretty good read.

I felt the beginning started slow but after getting past the first few chapters, I was starting to get into the story.

There were a couple things I didn't like
Spoiler the scenes where Dani was a split personality with Jada. I'm still not sure how that fits into the story. I also didn't like the fact that Mac was invisible for the majority of the book.

The book didn't feel finished to me and we're left with this cliffhanger that leaves more questions than answers. Not sure if the author designed it that way but it bugged me a bit because I don't like cliffhangers.

All-in-all, it was an okay read.
