I just really hated all of the characters, and not in a good way.

WHAT A BOOK! I read this today, nearly in one sitting. I just could not pull myself away from it. I don’t think I like any single character here, but I loved this damn book and it will haunt me!
confused by the vitriolic reviews — a character study of a vain English professor entrenched in her views, with a third act that goes off the rails (!) but definitely interesting things to say.. and just incredible at the sentence level
beautifully written..but what a strange, strange novel. can’t say I didn’t enjoy it though!
