I'd say more like a 2.5.
It's a very interesting character study. But not only do I disagree with most of the main characters thoughts, I also do not like the ending. The moment that October 20th rolls around, the book goes in every and any direction. It's bleak. The main character (who is seen to be fairly rational) drugs Vladimir (without knowing his medical history it can be pretty effing dangerous), encourages him to drink more than necessary, uses his phone and impersonates him.
And the fire ? Out of nowhere? Not interesting to me and certainly not a satisfying ending.

Overall the first half was interesting to read, the second half not so much

2.5 stars, maybe 3? What a strange ass book - so boring for the first 3/4 and the the last 1/4 BAM everything all at once and none of it made sense to me… like what was the point or points??? I’m confused.

I think I’m still processing the ending but I really liked the book! Complicated characters and great sentences

no r*pe apologizing and victim blaming on my watch, ew

This was such trash that I don’t want to take the time to talk about how it was horrible. It doesn’t even deserve that attention.

The main character of this felt fundamentally unlikeable and also extremely human and relatable, looking past the more absolutely ludicrous schemes she comes up with.

It is a weird book, or rather it’s a weird series of events our main character drags us along for, there’s no getting around that. However, I enjoyed some of the social commentary about academia and the culture of universities today, particularly after discussing these very same aspects at the end of my own uni career recently.

Complicated, conflicted, cynical, and a lot more? I’m not completely sure where I land with this, but I’m certainly not unhappy to have read it.
