I spent the first half of this book deeply relating to the main character, and loving all the discourse on consent and what it means to be a woman and what it means to be a feminist and what it means to be a woman and a feminist and have a job and a husband and a child, and how the world has changed, mostly for the better, and what it means to get older.
THEN THIS BOOK TAKES A SHOCKING LEFT TURN and I had to put it down for awhile and take some deep breaths because it turns out this likable main character is a COMPLETE FUCKING PSYCHO WHAT THE HELL I HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY MISLED WHAT IS HAPPENING WHAT IS HAPPENING WHAT IS HAPPENING.
And THEN it just...resolves? And actually everyone is weirdly better off y'know?
Our weird cad of a daughter is having a baby and that's GREAT!

The cover and dust jacket synopsis aren’t accurate reflections of this novel—it’s more dark academia, following the “English professor sleeping with students” trend that has recently resurfaced, with a few twists and a fresher (though not very satisfying) perspective. The author drops some massive hints as to how it ends, which is kind of a bummer.

Unique, dark academia vibe, great book to pair with a cold foggy day. be ready for moral qualms and twisty plot! Satisfying ending but weird. I’m not mad but I wish there was some stronger emotion (missing some rage)
