well written but I'm baffled how this is considered a children book? No, it'd be depressing for children. It has some questionable and negative connotation tbh but I enjoyed some parts of it. Still, it's a very depressing book for young readers.

This made me cry. But I was expecting that. Surprisingly, I think I liked the movie more because it was a bit easier to see the connection between friendship and this fantasy land, but the book was still sweet. Books geared towards younger audiences that deal with heavier themes are my favorite.

Okay, I didn’t actually read the book, I watched the movie, but this is a WARNING: I don’t care about spoilers, just do NOT go into this book blind! There’s something wrong with this author!  Why the HELL is this labeled “heartwarming” and “magic of childhood friendships”?! The spell is kind of broken when she FUCKING DIES! There, I said it!
