A fantastic read in personality psychology. Accessible, light-spirited and to-the-point.
Provocative book on personality, personality, and all the different "selves" that make us who we are. Insightful on how to create a meaningful life by recognizing the benefits and drawbacks of who we are and how we inadvertently get in our own way. Written in a breezy style, I often found that I wanted more details and had more questions than answers. The last chapter pulls everything together quite well and gives the reader some solid application.
Awesome book. This was a great read after I finished Quiet by Susan Cain. It dove into some other different topics that were really fascinating when it comes to personality
This was much more anecdotal and less research-based than I expected. Parts were interesting, but overall it was much more "eh" than I usually find this genre.

This was a random find while browsing non-fiction on Hoopla. This was a good read! Definitely written for the layman as an introduction to personality psychology, the book does not go too deeply into any individual aspect of the same. In fact, it occasionally errs on the side of being too surface-level and anecdotal. My one complain is that sometimes the anecdotes and resulting points are not substantially fleshed out.
I do want to go back and take all the assessments included in the book, as I was unfortunately not in reach of pen & paper throughout the read. I think there were many excellent discussions here, lots of variables illuminated and terms/definitions applied to everyday thoughts and experiences. In the first or second chapter, I got an answer to a question I've been meaning to ask a therapist about. I might purchase this one.

I think this book had good ideas and self evaluations, but was not my favorite. Lacking connection with the reader.
A helpful little book on the science behind personality and happiness with a moderate dose of friendly narrative. The first half exceeded expectations and cuts through much of the bullshit found online by directly attacking misconceptions and only relying on the latest and great scientific studies. More importantly, Little distills the takeaways into bite-sized, memorable chapters that don't pack too much into one narrative.
Unfortunately, the second half of the book reads like a data dump. Again, fascinating information but presented in a scattered manner, which left me straining to remember the previous ten pages. I'm not confident of the solution but imagine Little's publisher wouldn't allow him to publish an excellent and concise 125page book on personality.
All in all, read Little's book if you're interested in the science behind personality and its effects on our well-being (or happiness). Me, Myself, and Us firmly takes the mantle from the previous personality masterwork, Stumbling on Happiness.

Re-read November 2022. Same interesting tidbits as before and same tediousness after the halfway mark. Good but not great. Re-rating to a 3 from a 4.
