There were a few typos and grammatical issues, but I’m not reading this because it’s great literature. I’m reading this because I like the story. Overall, I thought the story was a solid 4 stars.
I’m excited to see where the story goes because we were left with a lot of unanswered questions. How did Delilah become fae? What role does Delilah’s mother play (let’s not forget, she set everything in motion)? Was Emmalyn really behind everything? Why are Delilah’s wings gold? What are the actual effects of the curse breaking (are the fae in the in-between free)? Will Delilah be able to free her people from her father?
I do see some similarities to ACOTAR but I don’t understand the reviews calling this a dupe.

I mostly enjoyed this book. It scratched a bit of the ACOTAR itch, but it seemed to also have some of the same lingo from SJMs universe incorporated - so that was a bit eye rolling. I mean, some of the same exact phrases were in here - "armed to the teeth", "vulgar gesture", etc..and there were some intense spice scenes crammed back to back toward the end that seemed excessive. Also, I noticed it jumped a bit from one minute being in bed to the next, our FMC is fighting off somewhere completely different with no explanation of how she got there.
This book has some stunning world building! It took up the first 60% of the book, which was a little tricky to get through, but the way the whole world is set up and how the groundwork was laid set up for an awesome peak! I liked the connection between the two main characters but I feel like more personality could’ve been put into the more prominent side characters. I’m excited to read book 2!

I enjoyed this story. It was a bit choppy, the prose a bit juvenile for me. So I didn't give it 4 stars for those reasons. But it was still a solid read. The sexual tension between the FMC and MMC didn't give way to spice until the last quarter of the book but it was well done once it did.
FMC is abused by her father and is determined to find the fae lands to help her kingdom. Then when she stumbles into them after a tragedy discovers they need her help as much as her kingdom does.
Fun and quirky supporting cast, sexy as sin MMC, and the FMC only annoys me every so often. The elements were good they just didn't flow seamlessly. And there were a few to many "we burst into hearty laughter" when the scene didn't really call for hearty laughter moments. I found myself wanting to rewrite paragraphs so it felt realistic instead of cobbled together.
All in all though it kept my interest and got better as it went on.
