this book was boring, badly written and the characters were unbearable.
i also really dislike the author, ive checked her socials after i started reading this and i swear she's the only person who has ever promoted this.

DNF 50%. I really tried. The romance was juvenile and incredibly forced. The main couple flirted like they were 13 years old. The plot has no rhyme or reason? Instead of natural build up and a context to why things were happening, they would just happen. It’s like the author got bored with the scene she was in and couldn’t find the energy to progress into a new scene, so she simply just threw a new one on top of the one that was currently taking place. I was giving this writing a lot of leeway hoping it would grow as the book progressed, but it did not. None of the characters connect and have no reason to be friends or talk to one another. The main character is a bore and makes no sense. Her father is abusive and just…gleefully murdered all his subjects with no pushback and no thought to what the heck he’s ruling if there are no people left in the kingdom to rule. We’re in fae world but there are witches and angels and mermaids. Why? Don’t know. Do not recommend this book in the slightest.

ACOTAR is that you?

2⭐️ since I’ve sat with this one for a couple of weeks.. couldn’t get into the second book-soft DNF
This book felt like it was cosplaying as ACOMAF/WAR. That being said, I was entertained for the majority of the book and it made me really miss the SJM series, so I might re-read those at some point this year.
This girl vomits at everything (instead of her bowls being watery) so that was a nice change.
If I never hear the word LuCiD again it’ll be too soon.
Maybe I’ll pick up the second book this month, but I have others I’m more interested in before hand… unless you can convince me it’s better than this one.
I’d recommend it if you want a compact version of the SJM series..

You can definitely tell she’s a new author, but as the book goes on the writing definitely gets a lot better. The story is great, a little tropey at times but I enjoyed it, and will definitely read the second book

Eh I enjoyed it enough but not enough to care to remember the plot oops
medium-paced

The author introduces the FMC’s best friend, the only other person she cares about besides herself and her mother, a charming gay guy, justo to kill him in front of her  20 pages later. And she gets over it  barely a couple pages later.  No, just, no. Also, the plot doesn’t really make any sense, it’s really tropey
