I always love Josh Lanyon's writing, the way he has to paint characters and their developping relationships really strikes a chord. This story had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and I definitely enjoyed the ride!
4.5 stars...really would have loved this to be longer!
Another enjoyable read from Josh Lanyon. This one is quite similar to The Art of Murder series but in a good way.
Special Agent Adam Darling is working on his big case, catching a serial killer. He is sent to a small town in Oregon to check on a dead body found there. There he meets Deputy Sheriff Robert Haskell with whom he spends the night thinking that they will never meet again. But few months later another murder is committed in a small town and Adam comes back to help with the investigation.
I rally liked the Adam and Rob. I was also glad that Sam Kennedy appears in the story. I hope that Adam and Rob will reappear in one of The Art of Murder books. The criminal case is really grabbing. I wouldn't mind reading another book about Adam and Rob.

DNF 31%,
I didn’t like the characters in this one. And I couldn’t get into the mystery either.
But as always the book was superbly written.

medium-paced
And here we have back the kind of mystery I love! The romance wasn't perfect, but I like both characters, and I kind of understood they motivations... until the epilogue, that is.
But hey! I have been waiting for another great Lanyon (tm) mystery, and this was it, so there! 5 stars :P

4.5 stars. Really.
I think this is my fav. Josh Lanyon story I've read so far. Honestly, I also think this was a packaged deal for me b/c it's written by Josh Lanyon and (audiobook) narrated by Gomez Pugh -- who by far is one of my most favourite narrators ever -- so I might have been a bit biased.
But, I also listen to Tristan James recently w/ Rhys Ford -- which I also considered a packaged deal but that book was soarely / sorely disappointing. So well, it's not just that.
ANYWAY, the pacing was perfect. For Serial Killing it wasn't overly grotesque and I really really really liked the chemistry between Rob and Adam.
"You realized you've been Robbed" -- I snorted at the bad pun. Snorted. Loved this story to pieces.

I really enjoyed this much anticipated release from one of my favorite authors. I read the book in one day on the day it was released. Special Agent Adam Darling is sent to a small town in Oregon as part of a serial killer task force to determine if a killing is related. This is done at the request of the local sheriff. It is determined that the cases are not related. Agent Darling worked with Deputy Rob Haskill and there is an attraction. A few months later, the Sheriff requests that Agent Darling come back because of murder. Darling pairs up with Haskill to investigate. He makes a startling determination. It was interesting to watch these two dance around each other. The key to the book is about finding what makes us happy and taking chances at happiness. A very enjoyable read.
An understated romance to accompany the tale of current murder and cold case that seem to intermingle.
I really enjoyed this story. It swept me along and I had no problem with how the plot played out. And since others have mentioned it, I'm a fan of the epilogue, without it I would have felt a little bit bereft.
Definitely one to buy on audio.
