If you want to get into this universe before the upcoming series in Amazon Prime: start here! These stories get better as you move through the book. Great intro to the world of the Witcher.

Foreword: I was a fan of “The Witcher” series of video games prior to starting the book series, so I was already invested as a fan of the series as a whole. That being said, I can say that even people new to the series can really enjoy “The Last Wish”. An introduction to Geralt of Rivia, Witcher, Monster Hunter, the book is split up into a series of stories set in a dark fantasy setting, where monsters plague the countryside. Action, witty humor, and a unique take on the job of monster hunter that reads less of a classical hero and more of Roaming Exterminator for Hire, will leave you wanting more! Highly recommend it!

No se parece tanto a la serie jaja.
Me gustó mucho y claro que seguiré leyendo los demás libros.
Esos párrafos y frases estupendas me dejaron con ganas de más.

I knew I’d love The Witcher – but I had no idea quite how much. The Last Wish was so entertaining, playing with fairy tales and fantasy conventions so much less seriously than I’d expected. Parts are a little dated now, but not egregiously so, at least not in this first novel. I’m so excited to read the rest of the series.

The first of the Witcher books, this short story collection is a great introduction to this world, its people and its lore. I'm familiar with the characters (Geralt, Yennefer, Dandilion, Nenneke and Filavandrel) already through the video games and the Netflix series, but there were some stories in here I didn't already know. Short stories is an unusual way to introduce a character and a world, but I enjoyed it - it was sort of like hearing the poet's retelling of a hero's adventures, timelines all out of order. Great way to immerse yourself in this world a little longer if you're not quite sure what to do with yourself after finishing the Netflix series.
