4 stars. I’ve always loved Michelle Williams and have never understood the mockery and hatred she receives online. She seems like a total sweetheart. Anyway, this was fantastic. It hit me really hard at certain parts because I related a lot. This is well written, engaging and extremely honest and full of hope. I am religious so I loved how she used Bible quotes and her Christianity to guide her through but she also is a big advocate for therapy. This was wonderful and I would highly recommend it.

Growing up in the Church, it's always been tabu to talk about having mental Issues. Michelle Williams knows that all too well. Whether you're a Grammy winning artist or not, mental issues is no respect to anyone. I myself have been dealing with depression for almost 30 years, and there were a lot of tips that are going to help me once i implement them. She was vulnerable and transparent and gives a lot of wisdom and helpful tips throughout this book.

I received a copy of the book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review

I found this book through NETGALLEY.com and was able devoured it in one sitting thanks to Thomas Nelson Publishers in exchange for my pure honesty. You will never truly know what this book means to me.

All I can say is that I spoke to me as a Christian, single woman, struggler of anxiety and depression. Michelle managed to be both vulnerable and transparent with her readers all while speaking God’s truth.

After finishing the book it took me a moment to gather my thoughts. I was left feeling seen, understood, challenged and encouraged.

My prayer is anyone struggling with or knows someone struggling with depression, anxiety or other form of mental illness will pick up a copy.

Obviously I would have wanted a memoir, but this is Michelle Williams’ experiences with depression. Very heavy on her faith (as a source of help) and just a sprinkling of clinical help and therapy.

What an incredible book. This made me respect Michelle even more! She dug deep and hit so many points that resonated within my soul. I struggle too as a young Christian with my mental health. A lot of her experiences were similar to mine. I’ve taken some steps in the past to get better, but this book let me know that I was half assing my growth.

Also, I love that she can laugh at what has happened and find joy in her growth. I cried so many times during this time I listened to the audiobook. She is such a pure and anointed spirit. And I love that DC3 are besties! I almost forgot about Kelly and Beyoncé because I was truly focused on Michelle. She deserves so much. If you are a fan of hers, please read or listen to this book!

I really enjoyed this book from Michelle Williams. I was surprised how candid and honest she was. I was able to take away a lot from this book as well. I would highly recommend this book!

Thank you @tlcbooktours for the gifted book!

Grammy-Award winning singer Michelle Williams invites the reader on a journey of checking in and addressing mental health. Michelle Williams is honest about her personal experience with depression and anxiety, and how it has affected her life. She gets vulnerable, yet her humor also shines through on the pages. Reading Checking In feels like you are having a healthy conversation with a friend. She talks about how checking in with God, herself, and others has saved her.

3.5 stars. A very candid and vulnerable share of her struggle with depression. Liked her descriptions of Anxiety vs Intuition and Transparency vs Vulnerability. Main points throughout the book on checking in with yourself and God.
