I'd like to be able to post a 3.5 here. I love Baldacci, but it's becoming increasingly harder to get involved in his books at the beginning. That said, I liked the storylines and ending ;)
Will Robie and Reel just kiss already? All this tension is driving me nuts! They save each others lives all the time--why not add some romantic drama?
This time North Korea is the bad guy, and the Korean assassin was a fascinating character.
Yes, things are a bit trite, but, hey, it's an adventure spy novel--no one ever said it was going to be high literature.

Not that I'm an avid Baldacci reader, but this was easily the weakest in the few books I read. Seems like two disconnected stories were shoe-horned into one book, and thus the interstitial scenes didn't have enough room to breathe. It's also falling victim to the problem of: why is this main character tapped and wrapped up in everything? Surely there would be others in similar roles upon whom the powers that be could call.
I found myself doing something I rarely do while reading this book. I skipped ahead to find out what happened in (what I found to be) the more interesting parts of the storyline, then flipping back. #3 is less about Will and more about Jessica and a lot about them being a wishy-washy about their careers and each other. Over all, it was ok.

I loved this installment of the series. By now I have noticed that David Baldacci has a particular style of storytelling at least with the Will Robie series, which I have come to like. He starts with two different stories running parallelly usually the story of Will Robie and another important character who would play a vital role in the future and crosses paths with Will Robie. Its really to go along the ride with two different character's perspective until they both merge into one for a big finale. This book was no exception though this time there were three different stories running parallely until they broke into two arcs. I loved the interactions between Will Robie and Jessica Reel. We learn more about Jessica's past. The duo together just made the story much more fun to read. They are simply adorable. I enjoyed reading the character developments between Jessica and Julie. There were so many wholesome scenes that made me smile like an idiot and go "Oh stop it that's too much for me to handle." I loved the introduction of the new character, Chung-Cha. From the first scene of her introduction, she was one of the most interesting characters to follow. I was curious the whole time how she would come to interact with Will and Jessica. The ending left me heartbroken and emotional because I wasn't ready for what went down. I am still debating and conflicted about how it ended. Overall this is one of my favorite books in the Will Robie Series so far.
