I have not read the first book, but I loved this one. Bringing characters to life and a wonderful study of human nature, where people lose sight of important things like compassion and empathy, just to focus on greed and such. I did enjoy this one a lot.

I liked this more than the first book as the story flowed better and felt less fragmented. It celebrates libraries and the freedom to read what you want, which I loved, and Nanami’s journey from feeling fragile to finding her own strength was sweet. That said, the book was simple, a bit shallow, and the pacing uneven. Even the title is misleading since the cat barely does anything. A nice idea, but better suited to younger readers.
