I just loved this book. So much. The writing was so good and addicting. The beginning sets the dark and mysterious mood and scenery so perfectly. I loved the complexity of the characters, I feel like none of them were dull, there was always more to them in some way.
Don't have much more to say, this was great.
The only thing that was a bit off for me was the dragon stuff. Like I just didn't get why that was necessary. When Roscille realized Lisander is no normal human being, I was so excited to find out what is going on. But this was a letdown and just a bit weird.

I was expecting a woman centered retelling off Macbeth, not a sort of violence against women that was only averted by a man saving her. At least she killed Macbeth at the end. It was a good idea poorly executed that frankly took out all of the agency of the original character. Also a lot of the lines in the book were trite truisms that felt too modern to make any sense in this medieval world. I only finished because it sounded like such a good idea but it was really poorly executed

A dark, mysterious fantasy that kept me captivated from start to end. I typically don’t read fantasies but I really enjoyed this story from cover to cover.

A great book I’ll be thinking about for a long time! For fans of Shakespeare who love lady M, this book gives a new understanding to her complex and powerful character. However, it varies so much from the play that one need not be a Shakespearean scholar to find it captivating. The gothic setting, the intertwining of magic and war, the theme of defining power in new terms are strikingly done. The writing is gorgeous.

Flopatron 1000, nothing made sense. There's a bunch of setup for certain concepts (e.g. asking for three wedding gifts before the marriage night) that never have any consequences because they get discarded again and again. Why did middle-aged girlboss Lady Macbeth get turned into a 17 year old child?? Why was there
a dragon
??

I thought a book about Lady Macbeth would be an engaging exploration about a complicated woman who is clever and challenging. This book did not even give an interesting female lead let alone a compelling narrative. It felt very basic and weirdly antagonistic about Scotland.

Prose was nice but pretty repetitive in the metaphors. Disappointed and wouldn’t recommend.
